Field Observations: Elysium

elysiumelysiumelysiumelysiumelysiumelysiumelysiumelysiumelysiumIt’s funny how most airline advertisements are about destinations and never about flying. The delays, prices, and etc, etc. just sometimes annoy us. Even when on the plane, some now use the internet, work, or just sleep pulling down blinder ignoring the world outside. I can understand when you’re not sitting next to the window. But when you are, sometimes the world presents itself in mysterious ways and the beauty of flying is right in-front of you.

It reminds me of a part in one of Pindar’s poems:

And those that have three times kept to their oaths, keeping their souls clean and pure,

Never letting their hearts be defiled by the taint

Of evil and injustice,

And barbaric veniality,

They are led by Zeus to the end:

To the palace of Kronos,

Where soothing breezes off the Ocean

Breathe over the Isle of the Blessed:

All around flowers are blazing with a

Dazzling light.

That is a great observation! Absolutely agree with you, that the whole beauty of flying is reaching the sky!
